T & F- Newman Track and Field Athletes move on to NCS Meet of Champions:

Men Finish 2nd out of 31 Teams at Redwood Empire meeet.

jumpCardinal Newman Track and Field continues to make historic strides in 2024, in both the running and throwing events.  Newman athletes showcased their prowess at the North Coast Section Redwood Empire meet last Saturday at Santa Rosa Junor College. Notably, CN secured a commendable second place (out of 31 teams) in the boys' team competition, amassing 64 points, just behind the team champion Redwood (84).

The top six finishers in each event at the NCS Empire meet automatically qualified for the NCS Meet of Champions next weekend at Dublin High School, while others could qualify as at-large bids. The top performers at that meet will advance to the CIF state meet in Clovis the following weekend.

The following 14 Newman athletes advanced to the Dublin meet next Saturday:

-Liam Currie, 400 (2nd), 48.86 (No. 9 all-time in Empire)

-Julius Skamarack, 400 (6th), 51.68

-Gwen Brockett, 1600 (13th), 5.31.43

-Oliver Currie, Triple Jump (4th), 42-05

-Santiago Adan, Discus (1st), 181-07 (No. 2 all-time in Empire, school record); Shot put (5th), 44-11.50

-Jake Joerger, Discus (2nd), 161-02; Shot put (1st), 55-08.50
