Newman would score again on their second and third possessions alternating
Jayson Colter and
Wyatt Knechtle at quarterback. De Anza was unable to mount a threat offensively and Newman led 21-0 after one.

Coach Richard Sanchez was most pleased with the teams toughness and effort despite the lopsided score early on. He highlighted two pick sixes on defense and a punt return TD by
Jonah Bertoli on special teams. Sophomore
Dylan Webb had one int return for a score and
Jamari Gentry had the other.
Penalties were Coach Sanchez's only concern as the team has a tendency to be over aggressive in some situations but the young team continues to develop in that area.
Defense was solid for Newman amassing 4 sacks, 2 Ints and getting off the field 10 of 11 times on third down.
Newman scored on all but two possessions on the night, one on a pick and one a missed field goal.
Patrick Gardener came back after the miss hit the upright ans hit one from 35 yards out.
Senior
Kyle Stoesser caught his first career touchdown while sophomores
Jonah Bertoli and Semere Behre each caught 3 passes. Bertoli had 2 TDs and Behre 1 for the Newman air attack.
Coach Sanchez praised the effort and attitude of De Anza. Despite the miss match they played out the game with effort, which eventually resulted in a running clock.
Newman plays next week in the East Bay again as they take on St. Mary's of Berkeley on Saturday afternoon.
