Santa Rosa, CA – October 1, 2025
The Cardinal Newman girls golf team delivered one of its most impressive performances in recent memory on Wednesday at Santa Rosa Country Club, defeating a strong Analy squad 223–236 in North Bay League play.
The Cardinals showcased remarkable balance across the lineup. Ella Foley and Keely Collins each shot 39, tying for medalist honors alongside Analy's Payton Bunch. Maddie Bugbee and Taryn Rubins chipped in identical 43s, while Rilyn Cirner rounded out the scoring five with a steady 49.
That depth carried Newman to a commanding 223 team total, a mark rarely seen at the high school level.
Analy's Effort Among the Best Ever
Though Analy fell short, the Tigers' 236 is believed to be one of the best scores ever recorded by a losing team in Sonoma County this decade — and perhaps longer. Bunch's 39 and Gemma Guerra's 42 led the way, with strong support from Simona Jahn (45).
It was a performance that would have beaten nearly any other team in the county, but the Cardinals' balance proved too much.
Cardinals Building Confidence
"This was a BIG win," said Newman's coach Demian Reddy after the round. "To put up 223 against a team playing at that high of a level shows just how deep and determined this group is."
