The Newman Women's Volleyball squad took the home court for the first time this year and won in straight sets over a tough Vintage team from Napa.
It wasn't easy for CN, especially in game one. Facing set point, after an ace at 23-24, Freshman
Sabina Walsh came up big with a perfect serve receive and pass, which ignited a comeback 29-27 win.
Junior Kimberly Wilson started game two with an amazing 11-0 service run, which led the way to a 25-20 win and the momentum was in the Cardinal's court. The home crowd was fired up and kept the energy high all night.
Newman kept the pace in game three and held the lead throughout.
Elizabeth Danley had a key ace late in the set and the Cardinals won 25-22 to complete the sweep.
"We were able to withstand an A+ serving effort by Vintage HS," said coach Daryl Kapis after the win. "Our team's ability to serve receive and pass was on full display tonight."

Julia Waller led the way offensively with 15 kills each. Waller the returning Co-MVP of the NBL Oak had an incredible overall game showcasing all of her skills passing, setting, digging and attacking.

Giana Tamayo chipped in with 5 aces and 5 kills, while Wilson finished the night with 21 assists.
The Cardinals travel to Napa next Tuesday to take on Justin-Siena.
