Cardinal Newman remains in the hunt for a top seed in teh NCS playoffs with a decisive 3 set win over Montgomery at home. In a great team effort, the Cardinals won all three set by double digits - 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.
Sophomore outside hitter
Zoe Bardis had a great night with a .636 hitting average. Bardis finished the night with 7 kills and 4 aces.
Junior outside hitter
Cienna Alvarez also contributed tallying 10 kills and 4 aces.
Junior Middle Hitter
Summer Binder led the team with 11 kills for the second straight game, providing great options for setter Kimberly Wilson who ended the night with 24 assists.
Defensively senior
Julia Waller came up with 11 digs making it hard for the Vikings to score and get side outs. Wilson also had 11 digs for Newman as they make. push for the final league schedule and a top 4 seed in the D4 NCS playoffs.
"The team played fantastic tonight with everyone contributing." Said Head Coach Daryl Kapis after the victory. "We stayed super focused all match long, and make a huge step forward in our progression as a team tonight which is critical this late in the season."
Cardinal Newman moves to 21-6 on the season and looks forward to their match against Ukiah next Tuesday in a replay of their five set thriller a few weeks back.
