Sebastopol, Ca - The Cardinal Newman Softball Team continues to improve and is now in a dogfight for second place in the NBL Oak . On Tuesday the Cardinals hit the road to take on Analy and won 5-2.
Freshman
Izzy Kunimune got the start and pitched 5 solid innings, earning the win.
Callie Howard got the final 6 outs for Newman. Kunimune gave up just one hit and one walk, while striking out 6 Tigers.
Freshman Jordyn Johnson had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Both of her hits went for extra bases.Â
Callie Howard also had 2 hits for the Cardinals, as did
Gianna Tamayo.Â
Ava Walters added a two run triple in the first inning that ignited the offense.Â
CN is now 12-6 overall and 6-4 in League. The win moves them up to 2nd place in the NBL Oak, with Windsor and Rancho all right there as the league race winds down.
