Novato, CA -The Cardinal Newman Cardinals picked up their first win of the 2026 season Monday, defeating Novato 14–3 behind a strong offensive performance led by Nicole DiMarco.

DiMarco sparked the Cardinals' lineup with three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a pair of runs. Her first-inning double helped Newman jump out to an early lead, and the Cardinals never looked back.

Cardinal Newman built the advantage steadily before breaking the game open in the sixth inning with five runs. DiMarco doubled home a run, Izzie Kunimune followed with an RBI triple, and Gigi McBride delivered a key two-run hit as the Cardinals extended their lead.

The Cardinals finished the game with 13 hits, with DiMarco, Kunimune, and McBride each collecting three. McBride led the team with five RBIs, while Sofia Kerrigan added two hits.

Kunimune also delivered a strong performance in the circle, striking out eight over five innings while allowing just one earned run to earn the victory. Hailey Arco closed the game with a scoreless inning in relief.

With the win, Cardinal Newman improves to 1–3 on the young season and will return home Tuesday to face Kelseyville.
