Novato, Calif- The 6th seeded Cardinal Newman boy's Water Polo team is advancing in the playoffs after a thrilling 13-11 overtime victory over Livermore on Wednesday night.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-2 lead after 1 and led all the way into the 4th quarter by 3 but Livermore came back with 3 unanswered goals in the 4th to tie things up 9-9 and send the game to overtime.
In the first OT period both teams scored  to make it 10-10.  In the second OT Newman took control with 3 goals to just 1 for the Cowboys .  The final, 13-11 and Newman moves on in the D2 bracket.
The Cardinals were led in scoring by Brody Hansel with 5 goals and 2 assists, Tomas McCarthy added 3 goals and 1 assist and Matthias McCarthy scored 2 goals and 3 assists.
Newman will now take on the 3 seed Alameda on Saturday in the NCS Quarterfinals.
