WAPO - Cardinal Newman Completes Undefeated League Season with Dominant Victory Over Vintage

NAPA, CA – NOVEMBER 1, 2024

The Cardinal Newman Cardinals capped off an undefeated league season in spectacular fashion, delivering a commanding 18-7 victory over Vintage High School. With outstanding teamwork, and defensive prowess, the Cardinals controlled the game from start to finish, leaving little doubt on the way to their second straight VVAL Title.

From the opening sprint, CN set a decisive pace. In the first quarter, they outscored Vintage 7-1, with standout offensive efforts and a rock-solid defense. By halftime, the Cardinals had stretched their lead to 12-2, showing off a balanced attack that proved too much for Vintage to handle.

In the third quarter, Newman continued their dominance, pushing the score to 15-4. Vintage found little room to maneuver past Cardinal Newman's defense, and by the final buzzer, the scoreboard read 18-7 in favor of the Cardinals.

Mason Ballard: The Cardinals' goalkeeper was instrumental in the win, making 10 saves and contributing offensively with 2 assists. Ballard's performance in goal kept Vintage from gaining any offensive momentum.
