Rohnert Park, Ca - Cardinal Newman got off to a rough start falling behind 5-0 in the first inning and never got the offense going in a 7-0 loss to Rancho Cotate in the NBL playoff Final.

Newman was held to just 4 hits on the day.  Paytin Salfi had 2 singles, Tori Leighton and Ava Walters each had one hit.  Callie Howard went the distance in the circle, giving up 10 hits and striking out 2 Cougars along the way.  A crucial mistake was made on a bunt rotation (no one covered first base) in the first inning which led to the 5 run rally by Rancho.

The Cardinals had knocked off Rancho twice this season coming into the league playoff final.  Despite the loss the CN should land a top 4 seed and a first round home game in the upcoming NCS D4 playoffs.
