The Cardinal Newman Freshman Hoops squad pulled off their second tournament title of the season, winning their own Sweet Sixteen Championship this week.
The first two rounds were relatively easy defeating local rivals Montgomery 43-20 and Piner 53-29.

The semi-final matchup with Redwood was a hard fought battle and came down to the final stretch.  Tied 24-24 at the half and trailing by as many as 6 in the 3rd , Newman battled back to 53-49 win, using a small lineup and hitting clutch free throws in the final quarter to nail down a spot in the finals.

Then facing Marin Catholic in the title game, Newman used the entire roster and pulled away for a 58-35 victory.

Mahdi Camara was named MVP and Joshua Jannicelli was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

The Frosh have now posted a 13-1 record and set their sights on a league championship next.
