Rancho came out determined, hoping for an upset and won the first set 20-25.  Newman regrouped and wore down the Cougars taking each of the next three sets for a 3-1 win and their eleventh victory of the season.

Cardinal Newman moves to 11-1 on the season with a four set victory.   it was Junior transfer Ciena Alvarez's first game of the year and she gave the Cardinals a much needed outside hitting presence.  Alvarez finished with a team high 19 kills on the night.

Kimberly Wilson had a good night setting totaling 23 assists while Julia Waller had her typical all around great game. 

Coach Daryl Kapis was especially pleased with teams passing and service receive. "Passing in serve receive was absolutely stellar in us only getting aced one time with the passing line of Julia Waller, Elizabeth Danley, Giana Tamayo, and Sabina Walsh all having an exceptional evening. "
