Rancho came out determined, hoping for an upset and won the first set 20-25. Newman regrouped and wore down the Cougars taking each of the next three sets for a 3-1 win and their eleventh victory of the season.
Cardinal Newman moves to 11-1 on the season with a four set victory. it was Junior transfer Ciena Alvarez's first game of the year and she gave the Cardinals a much needed outside hitting presence. Alvarez finished with a team high 19 kills on the night.
Kimberly Wilson had a good night setting totaling 23 assists while
Julia Waller had her typical all around great game.
