The Cardinals Men's Basketball Team picked up another tourney championship, as they went undefeated at the Sonoma County Classic.  The games were hard fought defensive grinders but Newman came through in the clutch in all 3 games.  

As the action resumes in the new year, CN will get back to NBL Oak play with a road games at Carrillo on January 5th and at Santa Rosa Tuesday January 9th.  Their next home games is Thursday the 11th vs Piner.

Dec 28: 65-43 win vs Christopher

Recap: The Cardinals took a 21-4 lead after the first quarter and won every quarter in a solid team effort. 

Dec 29: 48-45 win vs Petaluma

Recap: The Cardinals won a hard fought game in overtime.  Petaluma led most of the first half before CN stretched the lead to seven points in the 4th quarter.  Petaluma made three free throws at the end of regulation to send the game to OT. CN won the overtime period 5-2 for a 48-45 semi-final victory.

Dec 30: 44-36 win vs Piner (Championship Game)

Recap: The Cardinals trailed 20-18 at half.  The 3rd quarter began with CN going on an 8-0 run to take the lead and they held on for 44-36 victory.  Leading scorers Tatum Kurpinsky & Diego Flores Gonzalez were both held scoreless during the first 3 quarters, but they combined for 10 of the team's 12 4th quarter points to seal the win.  This is the 4th straight Sonoma County Classic Championship for Cardinal Newman.
