Sam Cline drives the baseline
The Cardinal Newman boys continue to dominate in the early season, as they won big over Rancho Cotate 62-36 on Tuesday night. The defense set the tone early on as Gavin Vogensen (9 points) and Sam Cline led the Cardinals to a 21-8 first quarter lead. Mahdi Camara was a force on the offensive glass giving the Cardinals many second chance opportunities.
Newman stretched the lead to 35 -14 at the intermission as they continued to smother the Cougars on defense.
Drew Krilich got going in the tird quarter and finished the night with 14 points.
Sam Cline hit 3 - 3s on the night and scored 19 points to lead all scorers. Camara added 6 points.
The Cardinals will now head North to the Mckinleyville Tourney. They take on a very good Arcata squad in the first round on Thursday.
